About

About SourceRanker and the link index behind it

We run a link index and a thin API on top of it, aimed at one job: ordering long lists of candidate sources so that people spend their hours on the best ones.

What we are

SourceRanker is a REST API with a free online explorer for backlinks, referring domains, anchor text, top pages and a 0 to 100 Domain Rating. Responses are JSON.

The data comes from our own crawler and our own index: 181,132,097 domains, 2,774,625,913 domain-to-domain links and about 798.5 billion backlinks. We rebuild it roughly once a month.

Our editorial team writes every page on this site. We publish worked examples only when they are marked as examples, and we state the limits next to the claims.

The data underneath is not magic. It counts who links to whom, which is why it is strongest on link questions and silent on others, such as search volume or how a page ranks for a phrase today.

None of this is a ranking promise. A link count describes the web as our crawler saw it last cycle, and what Google does with those links remains Google's business.

What we do and what we leave to others

We doWe leave to Ahrefs, Semrush or others
Link counts, anchors, top pages, DRKeyword research and rank tracking
Bulk scoring at 1 credit per callTraffic estimates from SERP models
Monthly index refreshDaily-fresh crawl
Prepaid credit, no subscriptionBundled suites with many modules

Who this is for

Link builders ranking donors, editors vetting guest-post offers, small agencies with a spreadsheet of 3,000 prospects, and developers who need a Domain Rating column inside their own tool.

It is a poor match for anyone who wants rank tracking or keyword ideas. Plainly put, look elsewhere. For those, Ahrefs and Semrush are the fuller products, and we say so openly. Our page on Majestic and Ahrefs sets out where each tool fits.

We would rather be useful for one defined task in 2026 than vague about everything.

How we try to behave

Three habits we hold ourselves to on every page, because link data invites overclaiming and we would rather not.

  • Date the claims

When we cite a Google update or a tool price, we say when. Prices change, so check vendors' pages.

  • Label the examples

Any invented figure on this site is called an example, in the sentence where it appears.

  • Name the limits

Link data is not traffic data, and DR is not a ranking factor we can see inside Google.

Account, credit and contact

Our aim is narrow on purpose. The people we write for hold a list of candidate sources, from a spreadsheet, a competitor export or a directory, and need to sort it quickly without a monthly bill for modules they never open.

Sign-in is by Google account. New accounts receive $100 of credit, which is 1,000,000 credits at $0.0001 each, with no card.

Top-ups are made in USDT (TRC-20) from the account page. There is no subscription and no monthly minimum.

For questions, open the account page and use the contact options there. If you want to start with a task, try the bulk scoring recipe or the shortlist checklist.

  • Run a free look-up on one domain, with no key
  • Score a first batch of up to 2,000 domains for 1 credit
  • Read the response fields ok and _credits after every call
  • Decide on a floor, sample the rows around it, then open your shortlist by hand
